home mapping previous	Click to see equivalent map Landsat and other satellite imagery can be a useful means of creating a map or a terrain overlay for animation with a good approximation of the natural appearance of the ground. This image is based on Landsat 4 and 5 data from the early 1980s. The imagery is actually taken in the near infrared spectrum rather than visible light, but it is available in simulated natural colour derived using an image processing technique.
