Envision 3D Limited is a small company based in Edinburgh's West End.

We specialise in the visualisation of building and engineering projects. Visualisation is a term we use in the widest possible sense. Recent projects have included photomontages of windfarms, development of a GIS-based cost modelling tool for city redevelopment, a desktop virtual reality based aid for learning mountain navigation and straightforward perspective views of proposed forestry works.

history

Envision has its roots in research work into the use of computers in visualisation and analysis of issues in the visual environment which was instigated by Mark Turnbull and the late Prof Graeme Aylward in the late 1970s. Following Aylward's death in 1982, ongoing reasearch and development was carried out within Turnbull Jeffrey Partnership, a landscape architecture and environmental practice based in Edinburgh. Until June 1999, Envision was part of Turnbull Jeffrey Partnership, but becoming increasingly autonymous, and has since 1999 been an entirely independent company.

(The former landscape business of Turnbull Jeffrey Partnership is now carried on both by Lovejoy and EDAW.)
