Putative Cairngorms gondola lift

This photomontage was prepared to show an alternative proposal to the Cairngorm Funicular Railway. The Idea was to eliminate the present Coire Cas car park and restore the site and to use a gondola lift from a new car park down near Loch Morlich.

The top image is a photograph of the site. The middle one is a line drawing prepared using Envision's own LANDVU program, showing the gondola lift in black where visible and in grey where it goes over the ridge line. The bottom image is a photomontage, showing the car park removed and restored, a small service road built in its place and the completed gondola lift.

Amid much controversy, the funicular railway went ahead and was opened in November 2001, so these images represent a vision of a future that never was.
