This photomontage was prepared several years ago as part of a tramway project for Edinburgh city centre which ultimately foundered. Similar projects have been revived twice since then. Using Caligari trueSpace, the tram was modelled as a glass box with colour and much of the exterior detail applied as 2D detail prepared as an image wrapped around it. This image was prepared in Photoshop using actual photographs of a full-size mockup of the tram. As Lothian Buses were part of the consortium promoting the scheme, we dressed the model up in the bus livery they used then. None of the masts for overhead wires had been designed at this stage, hence the curiously unsupported wire in the image.
